How long it takes for CBD to work depends on how you take it
You can take CBD different ways. The four most common ways to do this are sublingual (under the tongue), oral (swallowing), transdermal (with a patch or ointment). Because CBD only starts working when it enters the blood and the CBD takes its own path to the bloodstream for each form of intake, the moment at which it starts working differs per method of ingestion.
CBD oil (sublingual)
Do you use CBD oil? Then drip the oil under your tongue and let it sit for a minute. The oil is then directly absorbed into the blood via the mucous membranes in the mouth. It soon starts to work. You can expect the first effects after about 20 to 40 minutes.
Oral ingestion (capsules, edibles, drinks)
Please use capsule beds, edibles or drinks containing CBD? Then the CBD is absorbed through your stomach and digestive tract. In this case, it will take a little longer for the CBD to start working: allow approximately one to two hours, depending on how much you ate before taking it.
CBD patches and skin products (transdermal absorption)
Do you take CBD through the skin, for example band aids or a ointment? The CBD is then immediately absorbed into the blood through the skin and you can expect effects quickly: within half an hour.
How quickly CBD works also depends on your body
In addition to how you take it, your body also plays a big role in how quickly you will feel the effects. For example, if you have a fast metabolism, you will feel the effects faster than if your metabolism is slower. The type of complaints also plays a role: for example, mild local pain will disappear faster than chronic anxiety.
What if CBD does not work (well) for me?
Have you taken CBD and do you not notice that your complaints disappear (sufficiently) within the time mentioned above? There could be several reasons for this:
- The product is of poor quality and, for example, contains less CBD than stated on the packaging.
- You have taken too little CBD to notice anything.
- Your complaints are chronic and need time to diminish.
We therefore always recommend choosing CBD products of #1 quality with a good dose of CBD from A-brands such as Wedihemp and Dutch Hemp. Try taking about 20 to 25 mg of CBD per day in the beginning, and slowly increase this dosage if the desired effects are not achieved. Please note that chronic complaints are due to, for example, stress or... Rheumatism simply won't disappear like snow in the sun. What we do know from experience is that inflammation and increased muscle tension can reduce within one to two weeks, after which the (pain) complaints will also slowly disappear. So give it some time, especially if you have more serious chronic complaints, because it may take longer before the CBD starts to work properly.
